The program is available to all BSMH associates who have registered their Be Well account. Anyone may join who wants to focus on their blood pressure, especially those with an elevated blood pressure reading or hypertension diagnosis.

Q: What is Be Well with Hypertension?
A: Be Well with Hypertension is a text messaging-based coaching program designed to help you develop healthy habits to manage your blood pressure. The program focuses on managing stress, choosing healthy foods, moving more throughout the day, staying on track with medicines, and tracking your blood pressure readings. Our goal is to help make managing your health easier so you can spend more time doing the things you enjoy!
Be Well with Hypertension includes a combination of daily interactive text messages and one-on-one texting support with a coach who will be there to motivate and guide you every step of the way, M-F, 9 AM-6 PM CT.
The program lasts up to 6-8 months, depending on your individual needs and is available to select BSMH Associates, such as yourself, who would like extra support in managing their health. You can expect to receive up to 3 messages per day. Think of it as a health coach in your pocket!
Q: Why was Be Well with Hypertension made available to me?
A: Be Well with Hypertension is available to all BSMH associates who have registered their Be Well account. Anyone may join who wants to focus on their blood pressure, especially those with an elevated blood pressure reading or hypertension diagnosis.
Q: How much does Be Well with Hypertension cost?
A: Be Well with Hypertension is offered by BSMH at no charge to you. Once you enroll, standard text messaging and data rates may apply depending on your wireless carrier plan.
Q: Is Be Well with Hypertension eligible for the Reasonable Alternative Standard?
A: Yes. Be Well with Hypertension is one of multiple options BSMH Associates have to achieve their Reasonable Alternative Standard and receive their HRA/HSA/LSA contribution incentive. To qualify, you must:
- Have registered your Be Well program account.
- Register for and remain in Be Well with Hypertension for 45 days.
- Answer questions identified with an “!” that are offered at four and six weeks into the program.
You will receive text messages as you attain the Reasonable Alternative Standard. Even though the standard is met once you have answered the questions and completed 45 days in the program, you are welcome to continue participating even after the Reasonable Alternative Standard has been achieved.
Q: How can I verify I've completed program requirements?
A: If you're unsure whether you've completed the program requirements, or have questions about where you are in completing the program, you can respond to a recent text message from your Be Well with Hypertension coach and ask about your status.
Q: What if I stop Be Well with Hypertension before I achieve the Reasonable Alternative Standard?
A: Your past progress will not be saved in your personal Activity history, and if you join later, you’ll re-start the program from the beginning.
Q: Do I need a smartphone to participate?
A: No. Be Well with Hypertension is a text-messaging based program, so it will work on any mobile phone that supports standard SMS text messages.
Q: Does it matter what mobile phone carrier I use?
A: Be Well with Hypertension is available on most mobile plans. Once enrolled, if you receive the Opt In message from Be Well, it means your plan supports the program.
Q: How many messages will I receive?
A: After you complete enrollment, you’ll receive a series of welcome messages. Following that, you will receive up to 3 messages a day. Think of these messages as a small investment of your time each day to help you take control of your health. Remember, one of the conveniences of a text-based program like Be Well with Hypertension is that you can view the messages on your own time.
Q: Once I’ve enrolled, can I stop the program?
A: Yes. Once you’ve started the program, you can stop it any time simply by texting STOP to the Be Well with Hypertension program short code (63141) or contacting Customer Service at (855) 510-1381. Remember, if you are participating in the program to earn the Reasonable Alternative Standard, you must be in the program for 45 days and answer the two questions identified with an “!” at four and six weeks before stopping the program. Otherwise, you won’t earn the Reasonable Alternative Standard and will need to re-start the program from the beginning if you wish to earn the standard.
Q: Are my text messages secure? What does that mean?
A: Be Well with Hypertension will include conversations about your personal health through text messages on your mobile phone. While it’s highly unlikely that someone could steal messages from your mobile phone provider, it is possible, and we must make you aware of it. In this unlikely event, the text message could be read.
